Our Onboarding Process

Plan Implementation

Based on what we’ve already learned and discussed, we’ll begin putting our recommendations into action. The goal here is to help you rest easy at night, knowing your money is working for you (even when you’re not looking).

For example, we may identify ways to save on taxes, ensure beneficiaries are in order, or determining how to handle inherited property.

30- and 90-Day Check Ins

In the first 90 days, there will be lots of paperwork and moving parts. You can expect us to coordinate with your tax professional and begin aligning your accounts.

These check-ins are to help make sure you feel comfortable and confident in the way things are going.

Yearly Check-In

While you sit back and enjoy life without worrying about your wealth, we’ll continue do do the heavy lifting behind-the-scenes. We’ll meet once a year (or more, as needed) to check in on your plan.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that the only constant is change. We’ll make sure your investments and your plan align with your ever-evolving needs and life circumstances.

What Our Clients Say

This team is a stellar, comprehensive group of multi-talented and highly experienced professionals who have met all my financial planning needs for more than a decade. As a clinical psychologist, I know that money is a major source of anxiety for most people. Every conversation I have with my advisory team leaves me feeling reassured, confident, and secure that the thoughtful options in their wide repertoire will ensure I do not outlive my resources. This past year, they were even proactive in identifying ways to reduce my capital gains taxes—advice that was completely unsolicited, yet very welcome. I whole-heartedly recommend this team without reservation.

Kristi W., Ph.D.

Hello Inheritance made a complicated situation much easier to deal with. I always felt supported, assured, and very well guided throughout the process. Their professionalism and expertise gave me real peace of mind, and I truly felt cared for even after everything was completed. Without hesitation, I would refer a family member or close friend to them—I’m genuinely happy knowing they always have my back.

Kim F.

Working with this team has been an incredible gift during a very challenging time: transitioning my elderly parents into managed living while also taking on the oversight of their investments. There’s no question that they are qualified experts when it comes to wealth management. But, as important, they’re also deeply sensitive to the emotional weight that comes with managing a life change this momentous. I am truly grateful for their professionalism, competent guidance, and human compassion.

FAQs

How often will we meet once we initiate the process?

The “No-Stress Introductory Process” can be as quick as two weeks, or it can take a couple of months depending on your availability. We want this process to honor you, not rush you into a decision. If you do decide to work with us, we will continue to meet once or twice a year—or more when the need arises.

How do you work with clients across the country?

Although our headquarters are in Santa Barbara, CA, we meet virtually via Zoom with all clients. This allows us to work with the people who will get the most value out of our services, without the limitation of geographic location.

Also, we feel that topics such as money, family, and the future are best discussed when you feel comfortable and relaxed. What better place than your living room?

How much do you charge?

We charge an an asset under management (AUM) fee, which is a percentage of the total value of your portfolio that is being managed. All advisory relationships are subject to an annual fee starting at 1.20% of assets under management. This fee is calculated and paid on the value of the assets being managed, and it incentivizes the advisor to grow the portfolio since their fee increases with the portfolio’s value.

Why should I hire a financial advisor?

Because your financial security, freedom, and peace of mind is too important to leave to guesswork.
A good advisor helps you make confident decisions—about investing, taxes, your legacy, and more. We act as fiduciaries, always putting your best interests first, and we guide you through complex choices so you can focus on enjoying life, not stressing about money.

Do you provide financial services to those who haven’t inherited wealth?

Yes. We are happy to work with anyone where there is a good fit.

Do I have enough to work with you?

Most of the people we serve have at least $2 million in investable assets, which is typically a mix of inherited wealth and accumulated savings (excluding current 401(k)s if under age 59.5, real estate, and 529 plans). So we can deliver advice that’s fully integrated across your financial life, we ask to manage all assets that are available for direct investment.

I’ve just gotten a divorce—does that mean I’m an inheritor?

In a sense, yes! Divorcees often experience many of the same challenges and opportunities as people who have inherited. We are happy to talk to you and determine if our services align with your needs.
